Greetings! Ram-Ram, Whatever you feel connected with me I Lalit Kumar hope that you must have read the calculation of time in Vedic Astrology Part-1 before reading the article on Vedic Time System . If you have not read, then you are requested to read it first so that you can understand this article well, so let's start.
Time Measurement System
Here we will talk about astrology as the center in the time measurement system. In the earlier article Calculation of time, you must have known about the three units of time, but to create the time measurement system, when the oldest man must have seen that there are about 30 days in 1 month, then we have to consider the exact 30 days in the month. The ancestors would not have had the slightest doubt. It would have been as natural for the ancestors to have 30 days in a month as the coming of night after day.
But the truth is that there are no exact 30 days in a month. Not all months are exactly equal. Even all midnights are not equal. The knowledge of the granularity of all these units came to man much later. Even today, when modern humans can measure time up to one thousandth of a second and angles up to 2000th of a degree. However, the precise knowledge of these units is not so accurate that one can tell exactly which date was one million days ago-- the moon was completely round that night or it was cut off like Chaturdashi.
Time table in the Rigveda
How was the time table in Rigveda, it cannot be known now but astrology was developed at that time too, no doubt because astrology originated from the discovery of the relation of these 3 units and if in any time book we have to know this It is written that how many days were considered in the month and in the year at that time, then we get a true estimate of the knowledge of astrology at that time.
Discussion of astrology in Rigveda
Rigveda is our oldest text, but it is not a book of astrology. Therefore, the astrological signs coming in it are mostly uncertain. But there is no doubt that at that time 12 months in a year and 30 days in 1 month were considered.
To prove the authenticity of this fact, it is written at one place in the Rigveda that, "The true Aditya/Surya's circle consisting of 12 poles revolves repeatedly around the heaven and never gets old. Agni resides in this chakra like a son for 720 (360 days and 360 nights)".
Difficulty Accepting 30 days
Our ancestors must have faced special difficulty to observe exactly 30 days in 1 month. In fact, there are about 29.5 days in a month. Therefore, if one goes on counting the months of 30-30 days, then there will be a difference of about 6 days in 360 days. If the month is started from the full moon, then when the end of the 12th month comes after taking 30-30 days for 12 times, then there will be half moon instead of full moon in the sky, so it can never be assumed that there will be 30-30 days for 12 consecutive months. month was considered.
Number of days in the month
So far in the vedic time system, we have calculated the months, although we will discuss further about how the calculation of proving 12 months in a year was done, but now we will calculate the days in the month. Most of the things have been assessed from the full moon itself, so here also we start the matter from the full moon itself. However, the full moon is not such an event that one can tell the time of its occurrence only by looking at the shape of the moon. If at this time the moon appears to be round and after a few minutes it will still appear round. What about minutes? Not much difference was seen in several hours.
Therefore, considering 30 days instead of 29.5 days in a month, there would not have been any difficulty for the month, 2 months, but as soon as people started counting continuously, they would have come to know that by observing 30 days in each month, the whole year There is no unity between calculation and perforation. When the calculations say that the month is over, the moon is not completely round in the sky; When Veda (which is visible to the eyes) tells that today is full moon, then calculations show that the month is not over yet.
Surely there must have been some way by which people must have been observing only 29 days in some month. What were the rules for these 29-day months in the time of Rigveda, it is not known now, but there must have been some rules. As the wheel of time moved forward, such strict rules were made in Indian astrology, that people became slaves of those rules; Such a slave that even today Hindu astrologers consider it as a full moon only when their calculations say that the full moon has happened, even if the eye can tell something. Unfortunately - to make such corrections in the calculations that it yields the same result as is obtained by the eyes - seems like a sin to the present-day pundits(priests). Even after seeing with the eyes, it is going to go on lying because the results derived from the mathematics of Surya-siddhanta and the eyes-seen in the past hour-2 hours, by telling the full moon ahead or behind, the common man is not able to catch the mistake on normal occasions, So the work is going on like this.
However, one hour's manipulation in telling the eclipse can be caught very easily. But the pundits, no matter how fanatical they may be to prove their meaning, have started counting eclipses in modern western methods. Well, whatever the pundit of today does, but the people of Rigveda's time would have somehow not been able to observe 30 days every month for a whole year. Maybe there must have been a rule; Such rules are given in Vedanga-Jyotish. But even if there was no rule, then at least on the basis of the full moon seen by our own eyes, our ancestors would have been skipping 1-2 days from time to time.
Calculation of months in 1 year
This happened to calculate the number of days in the month. Perhaps the question must also have arisen that how many months are there in a year. To solve this question more problems must have come before the ancestors. There may be an inaccuracy of 1-2 days in determining the date of the full moon from the vedha (the position seen with the eyes in the sky). Therefore, it is not more wrong to tell the days of a month than to keep counting all the days of the rain from the rain to the return.
But it is not easy to find out when the rainy season started, or when the autumn came. Because, some years before the water falls, some years later, much later. Therefore, it is natural to make a mistake of 15 days in determining the beginning of the rainy season by looking at the season from the perforation. For a long time it would not have been known that exactly how many days are there in a year. Initially people would have the impression that the number of months in a year would be a whole number. 11 and 13 have only 12 whole numbers, even after the manipulation of 15 days, so it was natural to assume 12 months in a year.
It must have been happening for a long time that the ancestors must have been counting the months roughly from the rains and asking to tell the time that so many months passed.
increase in astrological knowledge
As the knowledge of astrology and raj-kaaj (government work), civilization, etc. would have increased, there must have been a continuous count for a long time and then it must have been found that sometimes 12 and sometimes 13 months should be kept in the year, otherwise Rain will not fall every year in the same month. For example, if this year the rain was in Sawan-Bhadon ( mid july to mid september) and we go on considering the year as 12-12 months from today, then after a few years the rain will fall in Kuar-Kartik; After a few more years the rain will fall in Aghan-Pus (this is the name of month in indian culture).
Adhimas in the time of Rigveda
The ancestors had figured out the method of making unbreakable relations between the months and seasons by putting the 13th month in the time of Rigveda itself. Because written at one place in Rigveda proves its authenticity. It is written- “Those who, by fasting, know their respective fruitful 12 months and also know the 13th month to be born,,,,,”.
This shows that the ancestors used to keep track of the seasons within the year by extending the 13th month. Adhimas is called the month of clove.
Conclusion
If you misunderstand astrology then it is not your fault, astrology has been presented in front of us in such a way that everything seems like nonsense. And those who believe get caught in such nonsense rules which have nothing to do with astrology even far and wide. That's why you too do not miss to go astray and tell the truth to astrology and astrologers.
